I have made significant strides while at Back2Basics. There are many aspects to this, first would be the wonderful therapists and staff, the next would be outdoor trips and last but not least the community. I came in here with a host of issues, stemming from childhood the result was me using drugs and alcohol abuse. Through many months of therapy, I have learned why I use and why I do the things that I do. This would not have been possible without the expertise of the therapists who collectively have nearly a century of experience. The second component to my recovery was the outdoor adventures. With this time in the field I was able to reconnect with the outdoors. It showed me how to have fun in sobriety. The outdoor staff are also very educational in their programming, teaching the community about wildlife and nature. They also do great therapeutic work. But by far the most beneficial part of Back2Basics is the community. The group of boys in here are essential to my recovery. We are taught to work together to solve problems. The community also functions as a third form of therapy. Without our collective experiences, I would not have been able to work through the childhood trauma I experienced. Overall, my time at Back2Basics has been a life changing experience and I would recommend it for anybody struggling with sobriety.
