Dear Back2Basics Families,

Our weekly outdoor trip started Friday with group therapy, a workout at the gym and gathering our camping gear. We left for a base camp in Sedona. Once we arrived at our camp spot, half the boys cooked dinner while others played spades. After dinner we surrounded the campfire, ate dinner and held a recovery meeting with the topic of grace. The guitar was brought out so everyone could show their talent. Everyone stayed up past 9 playing spades and listening to the music. Nobody wanted to end the night. Then eventually everybody went to sleep in their warm and cozy tents.

The next morning we made egg and bacon burritos for breakfast. We made a fire to keep us warm during breakfast. We left around noon to go to Mt. Wilson. We took our time packing our day packs as there was no rush. The trail was rough at first. It was uphill with switchbacks for a mile then flattened out with a final climb to the peak. The Sedona overlook was beautiful and amazing. The setting sun made it extra spectacular. We ate a late lunch then headed back to the vans. The descent was quicker than the ascent. Back at camp we cooked burgers. played spades again and held an end of day review meeting. Most of us were exhausted from the trip with a few guys staying up to enjoy the Sedona night sky. It was a good day.

Sunday morning we made pancakes and bacon for breakfast and enjoyed our morning. Snoopy Rock was our hike for the day. Even though the hike was only a mile, it wasn’t easy. The hike was fun. We had to scramble (climb rocks not needing technical rock climbing gear) to get onto Snoopy Rock. The view was spectacular.

We all agree, these hikes made us better people. This trip was really spectacular. We have to give credit to staff for making the outdoor trips worth it. This weekend was amazing and everyone had great vibes!!

With Love,
B2B Boys
