Dear Back2Basics Families,

After cleaning the house and breakfast Friday morning, we started packing the vans with our backpacking gear. Arriving at the Oak Flats campground site we unloaded and set up the basecamp supplies and our tents. We pitched in to make dinner, sausage and tortellini with red sauce. The evening concluded with a recovery meeting and card games before bed. We made sure to get a good night’s rest to be ready for the next day’s hike.

Saturday morning we made egg and bacon burritos and got ready for the day. We headed out to the trail. At the trail, we prepared our gear out, put on our camel backs and started to hike. The 6 mile hike was rocky and uphill. We gained 2700ft of elevation in the 3 hour hike. At the top we had lunch, good conversations and enjoyed the view. The descent took 2 hours. Back at the campsite we ate dinner, made a fire and held a NA meeting. Nothing is better than spending time around the fire before bed.

Sunday morning started with pancakes and bacon. After breakfast we headed to Saguaro lake. It took us about an hour to get to the lake. Once at the lake and unpacked, everybody hopped in the lake. We made sandwiches for lunch which were really good. After lunch we layed in the sun, played card games, and football. Some time passed and it was eventually time for dinner, cheese burgers on the grill. The day eventually came to an end. We packed up the van and headed back to the campsite. We had a really good B2B NA meeting and called it a night.

With Love,
B2B Boys
