Dear Back2Basics Families,
This week staff leaders, Andrew and Atticus, took the guys to White Canyon near Superior, Arizona. Our camping spot was in Tonto National forest. Once we arrived at our camp spot we set up and settled in for the night.
Saturday morning the guys set out for a 5 mile hike. The hike involved scaling and scrambling up rocks in search of a water hole. We arrived at the end of the hike to find the water hole was dry. The guys decided to not give up and kept hiking through the canyon in search of water. After an additional mile, it was clear, no watering hole. We agreed to have lunch at a nice spot in the canyon. After spending a couple hours at our lunch spot the boys hiked back to the vans and returned to camp. We ended the night with burgers made on the campfire grill. After cleaning up dinner, we had an AA meeting.
Sunday morning the boys headed to their next destination, the Verde Hot Springs. Arriving at camp the guys unpacked the van, set up camp and ate lunch. The boys had to cross the Verde River, which felt like 40 degrees, to reach the hot spring. Luckily the hot spring was close by, just off the river. The hot spring was refreshing and relaxing. After spending a few hours in the spring it was time to head back to camp. Once at camp we played a few rounds of card games and ate delicious chicken fajitas. Following dinner we enjoyed each other’s company around the fire. Some of the guys decided to “cowboy camp”, sleeping outside with no tent to enjoy the stars.
The next morning the boys woke up early to pack up, drive back to Flagstaff and hit an early morning workout. We returned ready for the week.
With Love,
B2B Boys
