Dear Back2Basics Families,

This weekend we went to the Arizona Hot Springs, located in between Arizona and Las Vegas. The van ride scenery was quite spectacular. Once we arrived, we quickly started hiking to the hot springs. The hike was amazing and full of stunning views!! The first day’s hike was around 2.2 miles, surprisingly it was not too hot. We got to the hot springs, unloaded our packs and explored the area. We were right on the Colorado river so good for drinking (with purification) and for laying in the sand to catch a tan. The long day we ended with an AA recovery meeting and another trip to the hot springs.

The second day was spectacular as well. We woke up and cooked up some breakfast on our portable stove tops. The day was fun. We started off by the river swimming and laying in the sand. Then we hiked to the hot springs to warm up. The water was warm, which was nice. There were different levels of hot springs and with each level the water was warmer. We took a hot spring break for lunch and then went back to the hot springs for more relaxation. We ended the day with an AA recovery meeting focussed on resentments. The boys all had great things to say. I think we all gained some insight from that meeting. After the meeting we all went to sleep.

The last day we woke up and headed to the hot springs for the last time. We hiked out through the hot springs. The hike back was around 3.1 miles. This hike had more elevation so it was definitely more challenging. We got to the van all in good spirits.

Monday morning we woke up and had our community group where we talked about our trip and gave feedback to our peers. We then had breakfast and headed to the gym. After the gym we did “derig” where we clean our vehicles and clean our gear after the trip.

Overall the trip was amazing!!

With Love,
B2B Boys
