Hello B2B families,
This past weekend we got to visit the Grand Canyon. We were split into two separate groups and our group traveled to the South Rim, Grand Canyon, and arrived Sunday afternoon to set up base camp. We walked around the South Rim for a little while, enjoyed the view and got to watch some elk from up close near the trail we were on. Sunday night we had a campfire AA meeting after dinner. There was a short reading out of the AA big book, followed by a topic discussion on fear.
Monday morning we woke up early, ate breakfast and got ready for a day hike down to the Indian Gardens. In our group we had two of us dealing with minor injuries so those guys stayed back at the camp site with a staff member. They spent the day exploring the camp sites in the area and having good conversation. The other two of us went with the other staff member to go on our hike. We hiked down the South Rim to the Indian Gardens and back up in pretty impressive time. We went back up to the top at around the same pace as we were heading down to the bottom and made it in about 5 hours. At the bottom at Indian Gardens we journaled on the topic of how we felt we have been doing at B2B. What we have been working on therapeutically and what we feel like we need to improve on. After the hike that day we went to an AA meeting that is held at one of the buildings near the south rim. Tuesday morning we got up early, had a quick breakfast and packed up all our gear in the van to start heading back. On the way we decided to pull off on a dirt road to have a discussion on what we had journaled about the previous day. After this it was smooth sailing back to Flagstaff Tuesday afternoon.
Until next time,
The B2B Boys
