Dear Families,

This was a unique trip for us this week, because we didn’t actually leave town. We stayed at the house both nights and cooked indoors (very uncommon).  This does not mean we didn’t do much, in fact we were pretty busy every day. Sunday morning, we cooked a big breakfast and then set off for a few different houses to shovel some snowy driveways (happy to be of service!) then, to the coffee shop to journal for sharing is caring. Next, we went to the Peace Surplus to get fitted for our cross-country skis.  Then, we went back to the house for lunch, then changed into athletic wear and set off for the rock-climbing gym. We climbed for a couple of hours in this bouldering specific climbing gym, all the while it was blizzarding outside. When we got home, we fired up the grill and had bratwursts and salads for dinner. After cleaning up, we went to the Flagstaff Film Festival to see the local’s short films from this year.  We saw some amazingly powerful short films, covering a large range of topics. By the time we got home, it was already after ten at night, we had a meditation meeting and ended the night with nightly review.

The next morning, we cooked a massive scramble and chowed down listening to some classic rock! The original plan was to drive to the Nordic Center for some cross-country skiing, however, it had snowed almost a foot over night and we were unable to get the van out of the driveway.  This and we got another call for service to shovel driveways. Well we couldn’t let down the people of Flagstaff and miss an opportunity to be of service, so we strapped the shovels to our backs and the skis to our feet, and set off to complete our mission!

This was many of our first time on cross-country skis, but we didn’t let that deter us from getting the job done. We made our way through the snow-covered town and shoveled three driveways! On our way home we found some hillsides to practice some downhill maneuvers.  All in all, we had a great time getting out for some urban cross-country skiing! When we got home, we made lunch and played cards before getting together for sharing is caring. For dinner we made steak stir fry, then went to a meeting in town.

Tuesday morning, we made protein banana pancakes and then went to the gym. It was a trip unlike any other, we all had some challenges and uncomfortable times, but in the end, we were able to unite as brothers and come through the other side stronger and more open and honest with each other.

Until next time,

The B2B boys
