Our last trip was to Southern Arizona. We left on Sunday morning for the Chiricahua National Monument and campsite. We stayed at a nice big campsite the first two nights and made some delicious meals in the cast iron skillet over the fire. On the second day we day hiked almost 10 miles through the beautiful Chiricahua mountains. On the third day we drove to the Cochise Stronghold campsite. We parked the vans there and put on our packs for some back-country backpacking and camping. This was an awesome experience because we weren’t following any trails, just streams and heading up and over boulder fields and through the thick foliage of the Stronghold. We camped next to a stream pretty high up and spent the next two days scrambling around checking out some sweet views. We were able to have a polar dip (swimming) in some water holes, from the snow melt! Brrrr! The next day we drugged back through the thicket, to the campsite. We stayed one more night and drove home on Friday morning. It was a great trip, we all grew as a team and as individuals.
