This week was a water wonder adventure. Lake Powell was the clients’ destination. Departure time was 12:30PM, after a morning AA meeting in Flagstaff and some time at the east side gym. It took two and a half hours driving North from Flagstaff, just over the border into Utah. Upon arrival, the client set up their tents and admired the sandy beach, beautiful glistening lake, and the surrounding rocky plateaus. Then it was water time! The temperature was perfect (well, some thought it was a little warm, but that sentiment did not get much attention). Footballs and frisbee’s were thrown, golf balls were hit, Spades was played, and there was plenty of lounging in the basking sun. The fun was momentarily interrupted by an incoming storm. Wind blew sand everywhere, filling the clients’ tents up. Rain came down, but wasn’t too bad. After the storm settled, it was time for dinner. Sloppy Joe’s and potato salad were on the menu and boy was it tasty! After everyone had full bellies, the evening died town and friendly conversations were held until it was time for bed.

Morning

B2B7:00AM wake up. Breakfast consisted of cereal, granola, and yogurt. There was no time to waste! The clients lathered on sunscreen, took the kayaks off the van, and inflated some stand up paddle boards (SUPs). We boarded our vessels and set off towards some cliff jumping spots. On the way, we made a pass by Lone Rock. (A MASSIVE rock in the middle of the water all by it’s lonesome). About half a mile of paddling, we reached our jumping spots. The highest cliff jumped off was estimated at 38 feet. After some intensely fun jumps, the boys headed back to the beach camp and had some snacks that consisted of carrots, humus, chips, and salsa. An AA meeting commenced shortly after, before the beach activities continued. Another storm was rolling in and the beach was getting very crowded, so we decided to pack everything up and drive to a campsite far away from the beach. The clients set up camp in a remote desert area, overlooking a large canyon, as the sun was setting. It was a beautiful sight indeed. Chicken, Cheese, and bean quesadillas were made and gobbled up before everyone headed to bed. Back 2 Basics
7:20AM wake up. The granola and yogurt were finished off for breakfast and then journal time began, followed by Sharing is Caring. The topic was how to tell when you’re in a rut and what to do to get out of it. After a riveting conversation, the van was packed up and we all headed back home. This concludes another B2B adventure. Until next time…
